I am the only son of an only son of an only son of am immigrant from Germany. My great-grandfather was Lewis May, a leading financier of his day. He founded the May & King Bank, was president of Temple Emanu-El for many years and was chairman of the finance committee for the The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. My great-grandmother, Amita Benina Wolff, was from South America. They had three children, all born in New York, NY, named Fanney, married to Myron Schafer, Josephine and my grandfather, Winston Lewis May. My father's mother was Gertrude Dobecky of New York, NY. Other than that, I know nothing about her or her family. I am searching for any information pertaining to the Myron Schafer and the Theophil and Kate Dobecky families.
