The Coggar Family of New Brunswick

Updated December 27, 2005

About Our Family Research

This is a story of a family who came from Ireland and settled in New Brunswick and their determination to gain great wealth during the depression years by selliing illegal liquor to the many United States gangs who at that time ran "speak easy's" for their clientele and how this New Brunswick man became acquainted and gained their trust for deliveriing the right product across Canadian and USA borders.

Some of the contacts were the Purple Gang and rival gang of Al Capone out of Chicago. Also the Capone gang under the influence of "Joe Louis" known as the Brown Bomber who visited New Brunswick during the depression years in order to maintain contact with the rum runners of the day.
