About Our Family Research

Donald,Archibald and Malcolm,b.North Uist, bought farm 25/2 in Glengarry County, Canada in 1827. Archibald may have been a carriage maker in Alexandria. I am sure that his son {same name] was. Archibald's will Feb 28,1879, gives his money to his unmarried daughters; Catherine,Christina,Christy, and Isabella. Will was witnessed by Reverend Kenneth McDonald and Archibald McDonald, carriage maker, his son, I think. Daughters Ann , Peggy and Mary. Perhaps they married by then. Executors are Archibald McDonald of Alexandria a carriage maker nad Angus McGregor of Charlottengurgh Township...Donald died on farm Dec 1874 and all his children and his wife Catherine McGreger moved to Los Angeles with exception of son Donald who became a minister and daughter Annie Laurie who married Jacob Hay and farmed in Glengarry. Donald's son Archibald U. married Jane McKay of Pictou,Nova Scotia, she died in Los Angeles in 1913. Obit states her sister Henriette still lives in Pictou.
