My grandfather,'Cam'Campbell Thorton SMITH was 6 years old when his parents moved from Pickens County Georgia in 1886.His parents were Joel Killis and Elmalina Della Fuller SMITH.It is 'family folklore' that 40 families rented a boxcar in Atlanta to move their furniture and some livestock. They came by wagon. At that time this was Indian Territory.Hardly inhabited by white settlers. They settled in with Indian neighbors and their family grew.It is Bryan County of Oklahoma now.Joel Killis and wife and 4 sons are buried in a family plot at Old Church Cemetery,Bennington,Oklahoma. Cam and his wife,Mary Ossie Turner SMITH are also buried there in another plot. Other families tied in are Corbins,Larmons,Dyer,Dill,Turner and Guess.
