Our family history in the U.S. begins with a Hugh or Hughey McDonald as a stowaway on a ship from Dundee Scotland in 1775. Some records show a hugh John McDonald on immigration records.His son David Lewis McDonald named his first child John Washington McDonald in 1801 South carolina.
