The Hains Family Lineage begins in Bedford Co., PA. The first generation that we have documented is Jacob Hains born 1720. The only son documented as of this date is John Hains born December 14, 1746 in Londonberry Township, Bedford Co., PA. John died April 20, 1813 and is buried in Bedford Co., PA (Cemetery is not unknown). John married Lanah DeVore born May 8, 1752 in Bedford Co. PA and Lanah moved to Zanesville, Ohio after John's death. Lanah died in March of 1838 and is at rest on her beloved farm with several of her children on the "Old Hains Farm" (now called the Robert's Cemetery) on Route 146 in Zannesville, Ohio. John and Lanah Hains had the following children: John, Jr., Henry Sr., George, Leonard, Hannah, Lenor Lanah and Daniel. From this family the branches and leaves begin to form into the surnames of: Lybarger, Maston, Reed, Randles, Milligan, Stewart and many more. They have left their mark in the history of Pennsylvania and Ohio and the making of America. This is a tribute to their memory and the legacy that they left for all the generations to come.
