The Thomas D. McDonald Family of Belvidere, New Jersey

Updated August 4, 2005

About Our Family Research

This family history search began about two years ago. I have visited the Hazen Cemetary in White Township in the area once known as Cornish, New Jersey. It was an area comprised of present day Belvidere, Hazen and Oxford. I have also done a preliminary search of the Belvidere Cemetary. The people in this area are from my mother's side of the family. The Coles and Cases lived in the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area since the late 1700s.
I have also done research on my McDonald side of the family in Gouverneur, New York. The McDonalds immigrated from Canada in the late 1800s and were originally from Ireland. The Gouverneur cemetary is on the web but it doesn't include the Catholic burials which were separate from the rest of the town.
I am currently researching the 1850 and 1900 census, in addition to the standard search locations.
