I am one of the grandaughters of Lloyd and Marie Rice, Debora Marie Rice McFarlane. My Dad, Lloyd Rice was their only son and has three children, my sister, Andrea, my brother, Lloyd, and myself.
Lloyd was born in Lexington,Kentucky probably in 1879. He lived in his place of residence for 30 years. At one time he trained horses. I have found a 1930's Census list wherein Lloyd, Sr.(age 50) owned a house at 30 Winter Street, Weymouth, MA and was previously married to a Lillian(age 40 from Virginia). He also lived with his mother-in-law Emona Downs and a foster son, named Donald M. Walker, age 3.
My grandmother, Marie Isoline Durrant was listed on the Santa Marta ship mastery as arriving in Ellis Island June 24, 1919 at the age of 24. She waw born in Jamaica and I believe was the first of three sisters to arrive in the states. She stayed with a friend or cousin in New York for a time. Her occupation was that of a practical nurse. My father was born in 1933. I remember she was recognized after her death in 1964, by a ceremony in which a tree was planted in the city for her volunteer contributions and that she loved gardening and me.
