Thomas Lee (son of Nathaniel Lee and Margaret DeLong) was born November 15, 1739 in Fishkill (Orange Co.) NY, and died January 22, 1814 in PennYan NY. He married Waty Sherman, daughter of Ebenezer Sherman and Waite Barker.

THOMAS: Lee was a Captain from Beekman, but did
not serve in the 5th militia. He is given credit for
serving in the Continental Line, 5th Regiment under Col.
Lewis, Dubois, [NYR 55]; in the Levies under the same
Colonel, [NYR 77]; and in the Dutchess County Militia,
Associated Exempts, [NYR 152]. [Saffel, W.T.R., Records
of the Revolutionary War, 1858, p.165, notes that Thomas
Lee was commissioned 21 Nov. 1776 and served until 23
June 1778, when he either died or resigned. Rev. Pens.
S 29221 of Henry Head claims that Capt. Lee was in
charge of guarding the stores in Poughquag in Nov. 1779.
Thomas Lee was born 15 Nov. 1739 in Fishkill, the son of
Nathaniel Lee, an emigrant from Ireland. Thomas Lee m.
Waity Sherman and lived in lot 7 of the Beekman Patent
near Col. James Vanderburgh. He died 22 Jan. 1814 in
Milo, NY. He has a DAR lineage.
The NYP of 6 Feb. 1777 included the following notice
about Lee's Company:
"Deserted Jan. 10, 1777; from Captain Thomas Lee's
Co, in Col. Lewis Dubois's reg., quartered at Fishkill,
STEPHEN TALLIDAY, 20 years old, brown hair, grey eyes
light complexion, 5' 10'' tall, born in Rombout. SOLOMON
TALLIDAY, of the same age, grey eyes, light complexion,
5' 11" high, born in Oswego. JOSIAH LOCKWOOD, nineteen
years old, dark complexion, dark eyes, brown hair, five
feet six inches high, born in New England: and DANIEL
GILMORE, thirty years old, black complexion, black eyes,
brown hair, five feet ten inches high. $5 reward per
man. (Signed) Henry Godwin and Thomas Lee, captains."
PROVISIONS FOR THE ARMY
Providing enough food to the troops was a constant
problem and Beekman men and Beekman grist mills provided
flour on several occasions. The NYP of 4 Dec. 1777
carried a notice from Samuel Dodge, Comm. of the Gen.
Committee of the County; "the following gentlemen were
appointed Commissioners to license the exportation of
flour and meal out of this state;" Col. James Vander-
burgh of Beekman was one of the 4 appointed 2 Dec. 1777.
A return of wheat and flour "found in sundry mills
and purchased by Henry and Paul Schenck" dated Fishkill
5 May 1779 included 42 casks of flour purchased of
Edward Howard at £9 at Thos. Netheway's Mill in Beekman
Precinct. The purchase was made on 29 March 1779. [GCP
2274]. On 1 May 1779 Philip Sentzenbach [Sincebox] of
Beekman sold 4 barrels, 6 casks of flour for £100/16 for
the war effort and on the next day Beekman miller Isaac
Dennis sold 15 bushels of wheat for £96. [GCP 2345]. The
