Duncan McFarland brought his family from Scotland to Nova Scotia. They moved south to Virginia and the familiessettled in other states in the area. William Robert Ellis Lee McFarland married Martha Aida Bailey and had nine children. They were involved in the OklahomaLand Rush and had to flee Rough Riders in Kansas. They started to Oregon by covered wagon (one of the children was born in the wagon) but were turned back by cattle rustlers who stole their herd. They eventually made it to Oregon. In 1990 the last two children died - Martin Luther - age 81 and Anna Mae (McMullen) - age 98. Martin (my father) married Laura Mae Redden (my mother)- daughter of Loring Alton Redden and Della Corrine Carter. The Reddens came from Ireland and also lived in Nova Scotia before Loring came to California. I am searching for more information regarding these families and would share with others.
