The Kengs: Our German Ancestors & Descendants

About Our Family Research

In the 1950's my maternal grandparents gave my twin sister and I each a brand new Bible. In this Bible between the Old and New Testament pages to write family history on. I took one look and thought I needed to fill this out. I was always curious about my ancestors and my family was small. I collected informaion on relatives while I growing up. I even wrote on Samuel F. B. Morse for a report that took months. About 1972 I got serious and started going to libraries and court houses. Then my children were born and I was back to mainly collecting information. At times I would bring my daughters with me on my quest for more information. When my daughter, Elisa, was a toddler she would yell out in the car "Mommy, mommy, cemetery, cemetery" as we passed one going down the road. When she turned 13 in 1990 I figured she was old enough to be left alone so I could get back to my genealogy. I've enjoyed meeting so many relatives. Knowing so many has been an awesome experience. I hope my years of research brings these names into focus as not just a name, but someone that was very special.
