I just recently started researching my mother's history. Her father's name was Leon Frank Calhoun. He married Henrietta E. Peters. They have seven children & of those seven, 6 are still living. Leon's parents were Perry Calhoun and Ola Mae Rosemond-Calhoun. Leon's father's father was John C. Calhoun, a slave of John C. Calhoun. He had a wife by the name of Elizabeth McCain who later died. John and Elizabeth had some children and after his wife died, he had to give them away. I don't know exactly how many there were nor do I know to whom they were given to.
