- Descendants of James McIlraith & Euphemia Stewart (1502 KB)
James McIlraith was a weaver in Scotland. He emigrated to Lanark County, Ontario, Canada in 1821, as part of the Paisley Townhead Emigration Society (a Lanark Society Settler), on the ship, Earl of Buckinghamshire, with his wife Euphemia Stewart and their three sons, James, Charles & John. They had five other children in Canada: Hugh, Agnes, Jean (Jane) Findlay, Stewart & Euphemia. While some descendants stayed in Ontario, many moved to other parts of Canada and the United States. This tree is compiled research, and I'd like to give credit to Lois (McIlraith) Richardson,Terry Quirke, the late Anne Turner,my late grandparents:Evan & Carrie McIlraith, Peter Andersen's 3 books of The Lanark Era excerpts and many, many other contributors for their information and assistance. My own family line is from John McIlraith who married Ann Foster. If you note any inaccuracies or have additional information to share by email, I would be grateful to hear from you.
- Descendants of James Hay Fair & Jane Watson (529 KB)
James Hay Fair was the son of John Fair & Nellie Smith. He emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1820 on the ship Prompt (listed as one of the non-Lanark Society Settlers in Carol Bennett's book The Lanark Society Settlers). He married Jane Watson, and they had nine children: Sarah Ann, George, Helen (Ellen), Annie, James, John, Jane (Jean), Phillip, and Andrew. The family's descendants first settled in Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Some descendants later moved to other parts of Canada and to the United States.
The tree is a compiled one, and I am indebted to "The Fair Generations", a book drafted in 1991 by members of the Fair Union Committee and other contributors, with special note to Ron & Muriel Dealt, the Fair Reunion Committee directors. Peter E. Andersen's 3 books of excerpts from The Lanark Era have also been of great assistance. My own family line is from Annie Fair who married Alexander Proven. If you note any errors or have additional information to share by email, I would be grateful to hear from you.
