My name is Teri McIllece- Boerner and have also been doing genealogy searches the past 20 years on my father's family McIllece. I also was told that my families name was changed due to being illiterate McIllece/Mcleish clan therefore our name was changed many times.... I know my great/great/great/ grandfather (John McIllece?)was born in the County of Lanark, Scotland as a baby 1819 and he moved to Belfast , Ireland as a young man and became a ship caulker for employment and then sailed from Belfast and then left anytime between 1840-50 John McIllece came thru Philadelphia port and meet his wife Eleanor Standish at her family eatery(restaurant) and they were married in Trenton, N.J and lived in Bucks Co. Pennsylvania around 1850's . John left this area and around the time the Civil War broke out he left his wife Eleanor and two children for several years while the civil war was going on and then after the war they reunited and lived in McCausland, Iowa ( he and Eleanor are buried in the cemetery in McCausland, Died 1898). John McIllece worked as a ship/boat caulker on the Mississippi River near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin during the civil war ( I think John might have been a draft dodger?). He then bought land and farmed around McCausland, Iowa.

One son John B. McIllece (1887-1939) traveled and sold supplies through Iowa/Kansas and Nebraska and in traveling saw some land near Bladen, Nebraska (Many McIllece's are buried in Bladen, Ne). ....and bought it and farmed for until retirement and moved toHastings, Nebraska. They had three sons/ Rilla McIllece 1885-1965 Grand Island, Nebraska/ Irl McIllece 1895-1975 Hastings, Nebraska/and Ray Bishop McIllece and he was my grandfather who lived in Lawrence, Nebraska and ran a hardware/lumber yard. Ray &Blanch Cronin McIllece lived until 1887-1976. They had my father Robert E. McIllece(Lawrence, Ne) /Dr. Pattie McIllece- Carman(Madison, Wis.)/Raymond McIllece (Ft. Madison, Ia) .

Out of this line of family 3 households in California/2 households in Illinious/4 Iowa/ 1 Missouri/ 3 Nebraska/ 4 Utah. I came from a family of 5 Rick McIllece Omaha, Ne/ Connie McIllece-Workman, ColoSprings, Co/ Kelly McIllece Omaha & Tucson, Az/ Teresa (me) andRochester, N.Y./ Kevin McIllece Austin , TX.
