We started a search of our families histories as early as 1967. It was inspired by the books by John Jakes who wrote a series of books on how a family came from France and how they progressed through generations and moved slowly across the US as it opened up. We also had a death in our family back in that sme timeframe. Although she was only a cousin, her records of families and daily diaries of the times back then mad us aware of how interesting even the most common families can be when you check out what they have done and how they came to be. We decided them to at least preserve our family history as much as we could. Searching for records beyond our own parents proved difficult since in many cases, families don't like to talk too far back. They still remember the people and still remember who they liked and don't like and tend to remember what they want to and forget the rest. We needed to see more and hope that the Internet will remember where others forget.
