This research includes my immediate family and our family ties dating just before the American Revolution. The majority of my grandfather's lineage has been obtained through friends and relatives. Marmaduke Jowers was one of three brothers that settled near Philadelphia, PA, and fought on opposing sides in the war of independence. After the war, Marmaduke split from his brothers and brought his family south to Carolina. This is where I tie in. Most of the people in the Jowers line are from the Aiken, Edgefield, and Barnwell areas just east of the Savannah River on the western edge of South Carolina. I'm sure more detailed information can be obtained using the census records, but I have yet to do that research.
