I am told that my father's brother ,David Lee McKinney, was named after my ggg-grandfather. That is the only clue I have to his name. He lived in Missouri and was interested in the Indians in the Indian Nation. Ever fall the indians went into Arkanass to the White river to gather nuts and berrys and have cancel meeting. David went to Arkanass to see the indians for him self, and met a indian woman who ask him to eat with them. He spent two weeks with the indians, and danced ever night with the indian woman. In the end, he married the indian woman, and took her back to Missouri with him. Neather could speak the others language. I do not know for sure, but it is thought, that David had a chruch wedding later, to make things right with God and chruch. To this marriage, there were 6-8 children. 1. George Washington b. Feb.13, 1834 d. Feb.10, 1924 . 2. Rufus McKinney b. ? d. ? . George Washington Married Mattie Exidine. They had 1. John Moss McKinney b.April 27, 1873 d. March 28, 1942 2. Ellen ? b. Bet. 1870-1890 . 3. Lee ? b. Bet. 1870-1890 . 4. Mollie ? McKinney b. Bet. 1870-1890 married John Hammonds , date unknown. 5. Cory ? McKinney b. Bet.1870-1890. John Moss McKinney married Nannie Hammonds about 1890-1895. They hadfour children, 1. George Washington b. June 25, 1896 2. Mary Ann b. 1898 3. David Lee b. Jan. 11, 1901 4. Bonnie ? b. 1901-1904 , John's wife , Nannie died shortly there after. John Moss was born in Arkanass and went to school at Prairie Grove Arkanass. When he was married to Nannie , they lived in Oklahoma, But after her death he moved to Denton County Texas. There he met and married Orpha Loucinda Ramsy b. July 7, 1875 d. June 20, 1964. They had five children, the first, Viola, was still born about 1902-1905 2. William Hubert b. Dec. 21, 1909 3. Barney Frank b. May 16, 1913 4. Ruby Dean b. June 15, 1915 d. Nov. 14, 1964 5. Bessie ? about 1908. Barney Frank McKinney Married Vergie Athleen Jones and they had two children 1. David Leon McKinney b. Feb.16. 1940 , and myself 2. Benny Wayne McKinney b. Dec. 13, 1946.
