My Father William McKay, b.1901-d.1966, after he retired started writing his memoirs and added to them his ancestry as he knew it. Before he died, he asked me to complete his quest, his search for family past and present. I agree and over the period of several decades amassed family information that extended beyond his original request. My Mother, Judith Elizabeth McKay (nee Larson, b. 1901-1078) presented a particular challenge. Although she was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, her parents came from Sweden. She had no specific details about where their came from, except for the name of a village road. Despite that, thanks to a postcard she had kept and to a genealogist in Salt Lake City who could read and speak Swedish, I was able to connect to her ancestry.
