This is our page ,we moved to Norfolk in 2004 after living most of our lives in Hemel Hempstead,in Hertfordshire, spent 6 years in the Royal Air Force,I was made redundant after 25 years in the maintenance dept. of a paper mill, just as we had bought a holiday chalet at Winterton on sea,so after a year or so we moved down here, and after moving around a little we now live in Hemsby literally across the road from the holiday camp where we both work.
It wasn,t until we had been here a while and I started family research, that I found that my grandad,my mum,s stepdad was born in Black st Martham, about 3 miles from here,Lewis Alfred Wiseman, his parents,Jeremiah and Hannah Wiseman, and grandparents,Joseph and Maryanne Wiseman,so what a small world!and we have contact with relatives in Australia, several years after I posted on a message board on an Australian site,Iv,e had my 65 birthday but I,m still working for now.
It,s 5 January 2009,this has now changed,as our head office called us together on 5 January 2009 and announced we were closing with immediate effect,so that was a shock, and it looks as if I,ll be retiring this year after all.
It,s now 23 March,I just came back from Hemel Hempstead,my mum Blanche Mckenzie,Sarah Bellingham,s daughter in law ,passed away on 25 February, after a short time in hospital,on the same day I should have finished at Pontins,so I,ll remember that date.
We found old photo albums I didn,t know existed, including Scots,Australian and even Norfolk family, this being mum,s stepdad, Lewis Alfred Wiseman from Black st Martham.
It,s strange having time on my hands after working all my life, although I go to college for three months starting the end of April for updating my qualifications, under a local scheme to get people back to work, even if I do live in the area that has the highest level of unemployment in the country!
It,s now August 2009,and I,ve just heard from Dacorum council,as we could not find my grandparents grave at Heath lane cemetery last time I was in Hemel Hempstead, they have located it for us ,it,s no.OA20c,in the upper half, and Ellen,Flossie, and Lewis Alfred Wiseman rest in there! Since the last entry we,ve been back and found this plot, seems to help somehow.
It,s almost the end of January 2010,just over a year since Pontins closed and it,s made a lot of difference to the village, especially at Christmas, and almost a year since mum died, and I,ve spent the last month on a new research site and managed to add quite a few new family members.
April is here and the family has been down here for easter,Mary was having treatment but they let her out for the weekend providing her mum Claire gave her I.V,s three times a day, each time it took about half an hour, but Mary, who is not quite three, sat there with the line in her arm making no fuss at all,and that was the most upsetting, almost as if she knows she must have this to live
It,s now 5 January 2012,and we,ve just heard that Brenda,s uncle Ron Norris passed away last week and Bronwyn Barac from Australia passed away from cancer R.I.P to you both
It,s now March 2013 and in the last twelve months Brenda,s cousin Jean has lost her husband Robert to cancer, and her mother Lucy[Vi]
