We began this research knowing nothing more than a misspelling of my father's last name, his mother's maiden name and the town where they lived in 1953. I had never met my father. With the maiden name of my grandmother, I searched the online version of the local news paper of Pittsburg, KS, "The Sun Online." Coincidentally, a brother to my grandmother had recently died and my online search brought up his obituary. From that obituary, we were able to derive the name of my great grandmother and the wonderful and tragic legacy of her French/Cajun ancestry. My daughter, by diligently searching every possible spelling of the last name, was able to tap into the paternal side of my father's family. Many thanks to the people who have aided in our search and many thanks to the keepers of the Family Search, Ancestry.com and numerous people who have answered genealogy inquiry postings. *Rae McKinney*
