Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

About Our Family Research
I know that my family are originally from Ballyclare in Northern Ireland. My grandfather moved to England in 1956, along with two brothers, one of which moved to Newbury. My great-grandfather had 14 siblings, including one who emigrated to Australia, and one to New Zealand. As far as I know, there are no records of my family in Ireland, owing to a family feud in the 19th century. I have also learnt that I have relatives in the USA, on my mother's side of the family. My mother's family are from all over England, including Anlaby, Scarborough, Malton, Bursleton and Knedlington. I understand that I am descended from both the Celts (the name 'McKnight' is Celtic) and the Vikings (my mother's maiden name is Thorley, derived from the Scandinavian 'Thorleifr').
