About Our Family Research

John Smith Walker came with his family from Tennessee around 1860 to Red River County in Texas. He married Mary Belle Hogland on December 9, 1874 in Dekalb, Tx. They had 10 children that were born in Red River County. Five of the children died at birth. John and Belle moved to Pushmataha County sometime before 1910 as they are in the 1910 Census. They lived in the Hall Community just south of Antlers. John died on June 3 1928 at his home. He is buried at Hall cemetery beside his daughter Mattie. After his death, Mary Belle moved to DePew to live with her children where she died the next year on Feb 28 1929. She is buried at the Oaklawn Cemetery in DePew, OK. Of the five children that survived John Smith Walker and Mary Belle Hogland have many descendents to carry on the Walker name.
