Hopefully, my family research will benefit my children and grandchildren. In researching our family history many mysteries have been encountered along the way; especially regarding my maternal grandparents, Ina Eden and Isaac Herschel (Harry) Hendrick. I've discovered that my grandmother, Ina, lived in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 8 from census records, and, that Isaac Herschel Hendrick is from Kentucky through my mother's birth record. Harry and Ina were married in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, as stated on their marriage license.
I was adopted at the age of 7 and, at first, found it confusing to research my heritage. After much thought, I determined that a clearer picture and more accurate medical history for my children and grandchildren would be available through my natural beginning...birth parents. I did have my adoption papers opened in the State of Illinois. I am still confused as how to show this adoption in our last names on our family page. Should I combine both names, using birth name first? It has been quite interesting researching my heritage to say the least.
