About Our Family Research

My name is Michael Ross McLaren of Hamilton Ontario Canada and my Great-Great Grandfather Donald McLaren Sr. came to Canada with his wife Mary Rose from Balquidder, Perthshire in Scotland aprox 1814 and settled in Glengarry County. Three children, Duncan McLaren b. 1815, Donald McLaren Jr.(My Great-Grandfather)b. 1823 and Margaret McLaren b.1827 were all born in Glengarry County. In 1837 Donald McLaren Sr. was granted some 300 acres in St. Vincent Township, Grey County and he moved his family there. Aprox 1850 Donald McLaren Jr. sub-divided his 100 acres in to building lots and founded the town of Cape Rich.
