In Florida they had six more children of which Norman B. Sr. was the youngest, born in 1843.

Norman fought in the Civil War with his brother Capt.Alexander Bethune McLeod, CSA. They were in the Florida Infantry, 1st Regiment., Co. "". They fought with the Army of Tennessee in battles of Chickamauga, Lookout Mtn., and Bentonville, No. Car.
