I am elated to oblige you with the first site dedicated to Charles and Cam McMillan. I am excited that you have decided to take part in viewing this site. We, the McMillan’s have stood through many downfalls and we have jogged down many rocky roads, but with the help of Jehovah we have overcome. Come and join us in July 2009 as we celebrate another family reunion in Florida. We are looking forward to a great time as we laugh, sing, and fellowship together.
We are descendants of a particular branch of McMillan’s that Migrated to Ireland from Scotland sometime in the early 1700s. They soon settled in America in the Colston Community, Bamberg County, SC and near Allendale, SC. They were known as the Ulster group.
Charles and Cam were married in 1868. They begot 16 children, however, only 9 reached adulthood; they were Carey, Henry, Lumitia, McDaniel, Eugene, John, Angelia, and Charles Jr.
Charles owned 755 acres in the Colston community, a cane mill, a cotton gin, 12 of the finest mules; he erected a church, Williams chapel Baptist church (www.geocities.com/williamschapel2004) and was listed as one of the leading crop producers in Bamberg County.
Charles died on Monday, September 8, 1902 at his home, which is still inhabitant in the Colston Community. Post a short sickness, Charles called his children by his bed and informed them of his departure. He then called Pinckney and Carey into the room and left them with 3 commands. (1)" I have 755 acres of land and I owe no man one dime, rebuild Williams chapel (2) take care of Mac (Cam) and (3) continue to educate my children.
Carey and Pink Saw it as their duties to carry out the wishes of their father and they were successful. Most of the children were college graduates (if not all)
