WILLIAM LEE HEATHCOE

About Our Family Research

My family has given me fits-I am at a point in my search where one hits the wall.My grandfather was William Lee (Landwick ) Heathcoe-born 1874 he had said in S.C.,this is as yet unproven,I first find him in Clay County,Fl.married to an Edmonia Hogarth. William and Edmonia had 4 sons-one of which did not make it,Lawrence, born in Oct.of 1900 died in Nov.of 1900,he is buried in the Sharon Cemetery in Clay Co.Fl.their other sons were Harvey Lee,Merrill and Melvin,It has been hard to gather much info on this group for they are all gone, and the rest of the family was born with bear traps on their lips-I did have the chance as a child to meet my uncles, but know only what I have dug up on them-Harvey lived most of his life in Plant City,Fl.and was married to the same woman all his life,Lillian Viola Brown- Merrell also stayed married to the same woman-Flaris Lillian Walker and Harvey's wife was Lillian Viola Brown, Melvin was married to a Zonamae Harrell, they divorced- William is next found in the year of 1920 in the Hillsborough Co.area married to a Sallie Hayman/Allen they were married in 1914 and had one child together Anna Mae Heathcoe / Bass - Anna was born in 1916 in Pasco Co.Fl) ,she married a William H.Bass and had one son,John W.Bass, born about 1934 or so,Anna and William Bass divorced in 1937 and Anna died in 1939 at the age od 22. Sally ( Sarah Melinda Hayman ) was first married to Allen last name- William is next found in 1926 married to a Mary Elizabeth Williams/Lee,her first husband Robert C.Lee born 1875 died in 1921,He is buried in Gardner Cemetery, Hardee Co.,Fl.they had 3 children and she married William Heathcoe in 1926 and had 2 more children,William Lodwick and Irene Elizabeth.Mary died in 1936 Sebring Fl.-William remarried 4 months and 1 day later to a Dollie Evans she was 40 and he,63,he had 2 small children to care for and this was the best solution, they divorced and the now Dollie Heathcoe remarried in 1938 in Hardee Co.-William did not wed again till 1942 to a RhodaElla Best, this is all I know about her-,she died with the name of Heathcoe, but on her death certificate it states that she may have divorced William, this is still a puzzle to be solved-William died in 1946.I am still searching for the dates and places of marriage for William to Sallie(maybe Pasco Co.) and Anna's marriage to William Bass,I am also looking for her son John W.Bass,I also have not been able to find William Lee(maybe Landwick and not Lee)Heathcoe-before the year of 1897 when he first is found wed to Edmonia-William is said to have changed a letter or 2 in his name maybe Hathcock,Hethco,Heathcote, could be anything-I have no parents or siblings for William Lee-Are you missing a William from your family line? also a little possiable fact- William's middle name may have been Landwick- he lived for a time in the Alachua county area of Fl. and then around the Hillsborough Co. area of Fl. Maybe I have your missing WILLIAM -
