the meeker family came to america in 1639 . first we find them in normandy. they came to england, ireland and scotland with william the conqueror. the original spelling of the name was mecar . johnathen or lona meeker and his thirteen sons fought in the revolutionary war from conneticut. members of the family moved to new york state and from there to ohio.
