I started out just for fun to see what I could discover about the three family Surnames that pertains to my marriage to my wife. I've at it now for about three years now. However,I did not realise that it would have so many hiden cost it would involve. Having taken the first steps that is reccomended through the Genealogy;Like talking to family members first;is like hitting a brick wall.No one can give any imformation that is of any relavents;accept the many diverences that lie so deeply between people. It seems as though if the stories were told a diverent picture would imerge. Even though having taken a trip to overseas;I found that if you were not completely familiar with the Genealogy research, most of the time would be taken up by inconvently asking staff to help you in guiding one to pacific ereas, which they don't really have time to do. I was gald however, that I did make contact with my father-in-law(deceased) family Munro in Wallsend Newcastle-on-tyne(england).We got to know that they came from Scotland And immigrated to Newcastle-upon-Tyne year?. Barford came to Australia 1856 with wife and three children. And even tough thier arrival was in poor health, the passage was seven pounds in English currency. Meerman van der Horst;well, what can I report on this family surname? It seems that I may be the last in line.I learnt that that Herman Prather married a lady Meerman van der Horst(maiden name). He was in the Army(?)when they were both in Hannover 1850. My family lived in Den Hage(Holland)1937.They had two sons;my father(Hendrik Gerard)and uncle(Cornelis).Uncle died whilst serving in the Dutch East Indonesia. And my father even though served in the same for some 12 years emmigrated to Australia an served another 9 years in the Australian Army. Hence forth I cannot gain any further imformation without some help or advice from you people on the Internet.
