Approximately twenty-five years ago we gave Daryl's mother, Edith Margaret Brooks Meierhoff, a gift that led to a hobby she enjoyed for the rest of her life.
Nearly thirteen years after her death Edie returned the favor when, through the generousity of her son, Dennis Brooks Meierhoff, genealogy materials she had accumulated during her lifetime were provided to us with the thought that it might prove an interesting hobby now that our daughter, Kristen Caroline Meierhoff, was going off to college.
The materials Edie developed, which were obviously accumulated only after many years of time and effort on her part, allowed us to build on the genealogy work Kristen began several years earlier, and were the integral starting point to the material that follows.
Anyone who ultimately comes to read and enjoy this work should recognize then that, but for the considerable contribution of Edith Brooks Meierhoff, it would not exist.
