John Mericle was born on May 17, 1818 in Hainesburg, NJ. I know little of his family of origin but am almost certain his parents were Peter Mericle & Hannah Hawskeffer. I am very interested in learning more.
John married Frances "Fannie" Freeeman on January 21, 1843 in the Dutch Reformed Church, Middlebush, NJ. They had eleven children. Albert, Nicholas, Lanah, Abram & Mary were born in New Jersey between 1843 & 1851. Sarah, Nathan, Emma, Royal, Andrew & Maheala were born in Pennsylvania between 1853 and 1868.
Frances died on October 20, 1870. John re-married Sarah L. Smith of Forkston, PA on September 18, 1873. They had one daughter, Minnie Mericle.
John died on July 4, 1890. He is buried with Fannie in Jersey Shore Cemetery, Auburn Center, PA.
Royal Carter Mericle(my grandfather)was the 9th child of John & Fannie Mericle. Royal was born on January 4, 1860 in Auburn Center, PA. He married Mary Payne (B: April 12, 1868) of Slocum Township, PA on January 30, 1886. They were married in Kingston, PA.
They had 5 children. Cecil, Anna, Thomas, Fannie and James. All were born in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area.
My father, Thomas Richard (B: Feb 15, 1891)married Margaret Williams (B: Apr 21, 1894)of Plymouth, PA on June 6, 1916. They had 9 children; Anna,Thomas, Paul, Jane, Jean, Robert, Betty, Margaret and Bruce.
I am also interested in further researching the related surames Tiel, Freeman, Payne, Roberts, Rees, Jones and Williams.
