For the past 7 years I have been researching the family that I married into in 2002. I am told now I know more than any of the family and wish to share what I have found with the rest of the relatives.
Thomas Jefferies was born in Crewkerne, Somerset, England and his birth was registered in the first 3 months of 1838 at Cheddar. This was a time when Newfoundland was not inhabited by civilized people during the winter. I suspect his parents were there working the fishing industry before his birth as Henry Jefferies and William Jefferies were both on the Island prior to this date. I have yet to connect this family to anyone else in England and have not been able to go father back with primary sources. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
