About Our Family Research
This home page contains links to the ancestors and descendents of Wayne Arvin Merrell and Theda Bell McMurrey of Texas.
The Merrell name was once spelled Merrill and originated in England. The first ancestor to come to America was William Merrill (b. abt. 1645 in England - d. before October 7, 1710 in Somerset County, Maryland. He came to America as an indentured servant in 1666.
Laird McMurrey is said to have been born aboard ship coming to America from Northern Ireland. He was born January 27, 1777 and died July 05, 1825 in Milledgeville, Georgia. Both the maternal and paternal sides of his family were Scots-Irish (Ulster Scots) who had first lived in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
My name is David Wayne Merrell. After retiring in 2001, I began bringing together the many loose ends of our families scattered histories in an attempt to connect up with other related family groups. If you should find you have common ancestory with me or wish to compare notes, please contact me.
