Mordecai Larcom Sr. was born 1629 in Great Britain/Wales,Isle of Wight, and died January 04, 1711/12 in Beverly, Mass. He married Elizabeth Clark on 1655.

Mordecai Larcom Sr. Our immigrant ancestor was born in 1629 in England, probably the Isle of Wight, "appeared" in Ipswich, Ma in 1640. In 1655 he married Elizabeth Clard, widow of William Clark of Ipswich, Ma.

Mordecai removed his family to Beverly, Ma circa 1660 when Mordecai Jr was around two years old. Mordecai Sr. died January 04, 1712/13 in Beverly, Ma.

The LARCOM coat of arms was drawn by an heraldic artist from information officially recorded in ancient heraldic archives. Documentation from the LARCOM Coat of Arms design can be found in Burke's General Armory. Heraldic artists of old developed their own unique language to describe an individual Coat of Arms. In their language, the Arms (Shield is as follows:

"Ar. on a mount a hawthorn bush oor, and in cheif and eagle displ. gu."

When translated, the Arms description is:

"Silver; on a mount, a hawthorne bush; natural colored and at the top
a red eagle displayed."

Above the shield and helmet is the Crest which is described as:

"On a cap of maintenance as. turned uperm. a martlet sa. with a
feet with a gold fueur-de-lis in its beak or."

A translation of the Crest description is:

"On a blue cap of maintenance, turned up ermine a black bird without
feet with a gold fueur-de-lis in its beak."

Family mottos are believed to have originated as battle cries in medieval times. The Motto recorded with the Larcom Coat of Arms is:

"LE ROY LA LOY"
( THE KING, THE LAW)
