He married Barbara Dast September 19, 1741 in Steinbonn, Wurtenburg, Germany. They had a son Jacob who was born January 10, 1746/47 in Steinbonn, Wurtenburg, Germany. Johann Jacob Metzger and his wife and 4 year old son, arrived in Pennsylvania on the shep "Chesterfield" on September 02, 1749.

Johann Jacob is Buried at White Churches, Salem Reformed Cemetery 4 miles from Kinnikinnick, Ohio.
