I am 3rd & 4th generation born here in the USA...as KATHERINE LYNN MEYER on November 10th, 1962. My Father (Robert Emil Meyer born in 1938/Santa Monica, CA.) is 100% German(but if you were to ask him his nationality he would tell you he is "Santa Monican") And my mother (Saundra Ann Sabatini born in 1943/Detroit, MI.) is 50% Russian/50% Italian.
My Grandfather (Pasquale Sabatini-100% Italian), my mother's father, was born in Atina,Italy, making my mother & her brother, Tommy the 2nd generation. My Grandfather, Pasquale (aka "Pitsy") was the oldest son of Luige Sabatini and Beatrice Marsh. My Grandfather had many siblings and their names were: Dominic, Carmella, Peter(aka "Nick"), Julia, Lilly, Victor and Tillie. My Grandfather worked at Lockheed for many years and was also a jeweler. He died when I was 16 years old in Burbank, CA. on October 7th, 1979 of pancreatic cancer.
Now my father's father, Clarence Meyer (aka "Whitey"), died when my father was just 12 years old, in 1950, of liver disease in Los Angeles. As I understand from my grandmother (Angela Elizabeth Riedel-Meyer...aka "Betty Meyer") she had met "Whitey" in Chicago where they were originally from. He was quite a bit older than her and was the coach of her Basketball team where she had played professional "Womens" Basketball. He had been previously married and had 2 childern. They married and moved to Los Angeles in 1937 where Whitey worked at Dodger Stadium in charge of all the concessions.
