I am looking specifically for any Meyers, Pratt, Goodrich's or Richardson's of Louisiana, St. francisville, Thibideaux, New Orleans, and Natchez, Mississippi. The eyers were reported to be from the Thibideaux area, Pratts from St. francisville, Goodrich's from Shrewsbury and richardson's from Natchez. My father and mother were born in New Orleans, they were, Marjorie Helen Goodrich and Sterling L. Meyers. Marjorie was the daughter of Joseph Elzey Goodrich and Helena Pratt. Sterling's parents were cora Matthews and Eugene Meyers. I'm only sure of three of my grandparents because Eugene died when my father was 2 years old. I only know that he was a barber and appeared white. Matt Pratt, Jr. was the half-mullato son of Matt Pratt of Canada, probably Montreal as he was French canadian. I found 2 men of that name at the Archive's du Histoire on Mullin St. in Montreal in 1996. One was born in 1879, too late according to my mother but my grandmother was born in 1895. He would have only been 16 at the time. the other was born in 1830. Matt came to New Orleans on a boat he built himself accompanied by a Jewish tailor called B. Freehand. When he landed in Natchez he met Moriah? Not sure? I'm told he always wore a beret and handkerchief tied french-sailor-style like one sees in a movie. The Meyers'es came to New Orleans during the race riots of the early 1900's from Thibodeaux. My father was born in 1919 the 5th of 5 kids with a set of twins dying at 16 from TB. I've only known my father's brother, Gilbert and sister Pyola Meyers-Brown. Joseph Goodrich's mother had 2 sets of children. she was a former slave. My grandfather was her husband's child. I've met one of Papa's brother's uncle "B" as he was called and Fanny, my great-grand-mother. I am the 2nd of 4 girls born to Sterling and Marjorie Meyers. both Parents went to St. Katherine's on Tulane Ave. My mother went to Xavier Prep and my father to McDonough #35. We also attended St. Katherine's and Xavier Prep. We are Mary Elizabeth, Oct. 30, 1942, Sharon Grace, Aug. 29, 1944, Kathleen Louise, Feb. 28, 1947, and deborah Ann, 3/26/49. Any one out there who knows more than I do, please write back.
