I began research on our family tree about 1990. I have traced my family origins back into Micklinberg, Germany, back into the mid 1800's.
I am a third generation German born in America. My Dad decided to leave the comforts of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to join the Navy during World War II. It was during this time that my Granddad had the family named changed legally from Mueller to Miller. After the war, my Dad met my Mom and the rest is as they say, history. Dad, being in the Navy, caused us to have a military travel style of life, moving from Jacksonville, Florida in 1953 or 54 to Tennessee. Then from there to several places in California (Oakland, California; Moffit Naval Air Field in California, as I remember a couple) and then we finally wound up back in Jacksonville, Florida in the early 1960's.
It was here that I met my wife, Cindie Wiggins of Valdosta, Georgia. Three months after meeting her, we were married. Two years later my first son, Robert Royce was born and then a year later, my second son was born, Donald Justin.
During July 2000, the Miller Family held a Reunion with a majority of the Miller Family present. It was a great time to see all the different branches of the family together. Some of the photos from that event are posted here.
It appears that during the late 1800's, due probably to the political climate of the Prussian Empire of that time, my great-great grand Dad, his wife (unknown), and infant son, left the region of Micklinberg, Germany, and traveled to the United States to begin a new life. They settled in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, and became a farmer in America.
