I am looking for the birthparents of my Great Grandfather James W. Mullins born 1832 in Rutherford Co., TN and died in Water Valley, Graves Co., Ky. He had two siblings Frances Jane, and John C. Mullins. Guardianship was given to Richard D. Allison and Mary "Polly" Mullins Allison sometime after 1840. Apparently there was a move from TN to Ky after this date. Richard and Mary Allison were close to David Adam Mullins, and in a census I saw where James W. lived next door to Robert Mullins, later in life, who was a son of David. My mother and aunt said my Mullins were Irish.
James W. had a son named Washington Luchous (Washie Luch) born 1878 who married Eva Inez Janes. Her parents were B.F. (Benjamin Frank) Janes born about 1840,KY (Janes was typed Janies in one census), and Elizabeth (unknown) born about 1849 in KY. One the 1870 and 1880 census' in appears that they lived in Dublin and later Pryorsburg, Graves Co., KY. I would like any information as to who her parents were. I think she could possibly be a Wilson or Slayden. I found Slayden to be the middle name of two of her family members. My mother and aunt both said that the surname was changed from James to Janes, and I do not know when this occurred. My mother said the Janes were English. She also said her mother's family had slaves and I would love to hear from any descendants of these slaves and heard their story. Washie and Evie lived and died in Wingo, Graves Co., KY.
Martha Jane Batts was James W.'s second wife, and mother of Washie Luch. Some say her mother was a Johnson, or Knight, or Joyner. On a census she said her mother was from KY and father from NC. That would leave the female Joyner out, as she was born in NC. Her father was Gerolis or Geroldus Batts. Any info. about her birthmother would be appreciated, also
