My father was born at Mount Young, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His family is known as the "Post" as they carried the mail in Scotland and around Mount Young when they settled there.Alasdair and Mairead(Margaret) had five children,Hector, John, Ronald and Donald and Jane. They are from the ClanRanald heritage. John married Margaret Beaton and had 8 children: Roderick,Angus,Mary,Margaret,Flora,Michael,Alexander,and Catherine Mary.
Roderick married Mary MacEachean [yankee Angus] of Mount Young. They had 5 children: John Donald (Dan), Catherine, Alexander,Margaret Mary,and Elizabeth Isabelle.
Dan moved west to B.C. and worked in lumber camps and then in Alberta as a cowboy. He attended the first Calgary Stampede. He worked on ranches around High River and on the Bar U near Longview. He married Gertrude Flood from Leduc and settled on a farm eleven miles west of Millet, Alberta. They had eight children: John Alexander, Donald Roderick,Wilfred Dennis,Noreen Elizabeth, Marilyn Frances,twins,Margaret Anne (Peggy)and Patricia Gertrude, Michael Ambrose.
John married Marjorie Rasmussen from Big Beaver, Sask. and have 3 girls, Karen Ann, Leona Marie and Marjorie Irene Mary(Irene).
Karen Ann married Marc LeBlanc from Campbellton, New Brunswick and has one girl, Renee Alma. Leona married Larry Cederholm and has one girl, Brooke Larie.
Donald married EileenElizabeth MacPhee from Big Bras d'or Cape Breton and have 2 children: Heather Anne and Ian Roderick. Heather married Jason Wall from N.S. and they have one son ,Connor.
Dennis remained single and farmed near Millet. He died on Jan 22, 2004in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Noreen remained single, worked for Esso in Calgary and still resides there.
Marilyn married Peter Snedden from Edmonton and have 3 children. Brian Douglas, Gary Donald and Mary Ann.
Brian married Tammy Hawkins from Lethbridge and have 3 children:Jenna Alberta, Brandan Douglas, Blake Peter.
Gary married Karel-Lyn Heggie of Lethbridge and have 2 children:Evan James Heggie and Hilliary Joanne.
Mary Ann married Robert Russell of Millet and have two children:Ashley Ann and Cameron Peter.
Peggy married Alister Wesley and have three children: Allan James,Darlene Anne and Paul Edward.
Allan married Joy Hornigold and have 3 children, Stephen,Megan and Alister.
Patricia (Pat) married Donald Moffitt of Radway and have four children: Janice Teresa,Jacqueline Patricia,Kevin Patrick and Nancy Lynn. J
Janice married Michael Bilyk of Radway and has two children: Jennifer Leigh and Daniel James.
Kevin married Shauna LaRae Chartier and are expecting a child in May 2004.
Nancy and Jame Aplin have five children: Melanie Irene, Kyle Shawn, Katelyn Amanda, Emily Danielle and Sara Ashley.
Michael married Gail Dorion and have five children: Michael Derwent,Peggy Anne,Daniel, John and Robert James.

Gertrude Flood grew up on a farm near Leduc and in town. Her Dad, John James had a livery stable in Leduc and also did some farming. Her mother died when she was ten years old and she helped raise her four brothers. Her two sisters lived with relatives. She was very active in the Roman Catholic church,the CWL and in the Women's Institute. She was on the Home and School Board and enjoyed watching the girls play softball. Her Dad came from Peterboro, Ontario. He married Ellen Holland O'Connell. They had three girls and four boys.

Pat has been very active in the community of Beacon Heights helping with the sports programs. I played softball, women's hockey, badminton, bowling. I was also a coach of Softball and hockey and a referee and umpire for these sports. I am a level III Softball coach and was a coaching instructor for 25 years. I was inducted into the Alberta Softball Hall of Fame in 2001. I was very instramental in getting women's hockey restarted in the 1980s here in Edmonton and Alberta. I was awarded many honors, The City of Edmonton Citation for meritorious volunteer effort in the interests of minor sports.
