Oscar Monroe Montgomery (son of William Marion Montgomery and Hattie Francis Hindman Gardner)86 was born 24 Nov 1887 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and died 29 Aug 1955 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He married Minnie Emma Edelman on 23 Dec 1912 in Jackson, Missouri, daughter of Thomas Krause Edelman and Mary Hartwein.

Oscar Montgomery, 57 year old life long resident of Butler County and one of the county’s better known farmers, was killed instantly at 6:00 A M this morning in an accident at his farm on Miller Road in Green Forest Community off of old Highway 60 west.
He fell about 18; feet from the top of a load of hay as he prepared to put the hay in a barn behind his farm home.
Dr. A .F. Brookerson said death was due to a broken neck. Montgomery, Everett Pennington and Pennington’s grandson, Bobby Fredwell , had been gathering hay at the Montgomery farm.
Pennington was operating a tractor pulling a hay wagon and had stopped at the barn loft door. Montgomery was on top of the load of hay and arranging a rope to raise bales into the loft when he apparently lost his balance and fell to the ground.
Corner Grover Greer investigated and said death was accidental and that an inquest would not be necessary. Montgomery was born in the Green Forest community near his present home. November 24 1887 . He and the former Miss Minnie Edelman were married December 23 1912
Survivors include his wife, and a son, former Butler County Representative Arnold Montgomery of Springfield, MO. Two grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Julie Pinkerton of Butler County.
He was a member of the Green Forest Church of Christ. He will be buried in the Montgomery Cemetery, west of the Green Forest Community.
