Hello! I hope you enjoy reading through the MORAN family tree I have constructed. I hope you enjoy thumbing through it as a family member as well as helping you gather information you need for your own family tree.
I started this project as a hobby, which quickly led to a small addiction which kept me up many a night (and still is). I gathered the information from the available websites and "tried" to spend time going through each of the records to verify their authenticity. MANY of the records and files I viewed seemed to be either false or had partial information that I could not confirm nor deny to be sure that the information I recorded was correct before adding them to the tree. I am still going through a lot of records trying to correct some errors I have found (my fault) as well as add new family members.
As you will see, I naturally started with the MORAN and GRACE families, which quickly led to what seems like everyone else in the world. I had a lot of help from mom and dad (Pat and Charlie) which each of thier respective families. I had several long conversations with them picking thier brains about the past and what they knew and heard about thier ancestors (sorry guys!). I have a copy of the Family Tree created by Frank Edgette in 1966 (which helped me out tremendously), but am still looking for the Gentsch's from Sweden. I have several leads on the Moran side where I got stuck pretty quick. I have called Nana several times which has helped out as well. The Grace side also caused me to stay up late picking through records and files trying to make sense of it, but no such luck....... yet.
Please try to keep in mind, I took the ancestry straight backwards as far as I can (I am still working on that as well), and plan to research each of the names as much as I can, and fill in some blanks and errors. I also hope to try to research some of the persons information I have located way back in the past, forward to see who we are related to around today. I have learned that some name spellings changed though the years and that the records mostly show the subjects "actual names". What I mean is that, although it does show up occasionally, most persons "titles" are not included, and further research is needed to find out who there ancestors really are. Example: Walter Tirel b. 1060, d. 1135. This in itself does not reveal much, but further general research shows that Walter De Tirel "Lord of Poix" (France) seemed to have assasinated King William II in 1100 by shooting him with an arrow, leaving him for dead. I have found that doing general searches of family members, several different ways, after they have been identifed, can reveal a lot of local historical information. I plan to add photos, newspaper acrticles and whatever historical information I can find, as I get to it. Being that I am still pretty new to this I haven't figured a lot of this out yet, I should probably read the book that came with the program..................
Feel free to email me if you have information for me to add, because there is still a lot to go!!!
Enjoy,
Dan
While looking through the records, try to look through the "Facts" files and then open the "Notes" sections, where I have added some websites where I found several good sites for information.
