Hello, There is very little to say about my famliy in Portugal. My grandfather, Olivera Morgado was born in Porto, Portugal in the year of 1914. His real name is not Olivera, but everyone called him that, because that was his middle name. He was the youngest of 12 children. In Portugal, he was forsed to marry a portugese girl that he did not love, so when he was 18, he left Portugal and came to the U.S.A with one brother. When grandpa came over to the U.S, he changed his last name from Morgado to Morgan. His brother stayed in New York and he never heard from him again.
My grandfather married my grandmother and had 6 children, but when my father (the youngest of 6) was a little boy, grandpa became very sick and he couldn't remember anything about his home in Portugal. My grandpa died 10 monthes before I was born on Feb. 14, 1983. I don't know how to speak Portugese,I don't know what our family names were, and I don't even know what was his childhood was like. Some day I would like to learn how to speak Portuguese and go to Portugal to find my family. I would like to keep my gradfather's memory alive as much as I can, because if it wasn't for him and God I wouldn't even be born.
