Following is the Morrison Family Tree from James of Scotland to James Alexander of Tennessee:

James Morrison – Born in Scotland about 1675, immigrated to America about 1730 from Northern Ireland, and settled in Pennsylvania.
Spouse - name unknown

William Morrison – Born in Northern Ireland about 1704, immigrated to America about 1730 with his dad, James, and migrated to North Carolina from Pennsylvania about 1750.
Spouse – Margaret (last name unknown)

Patrick Morrison – Born in Pennsylvania about 1739, migrated to North Carolina about 1750 with his dad, William, migrated to Tennessee about 1784, and died in Wilson County, TN in 1810.
Spouse – (1st spouse) Elizabeth Smith – (2nd spouse) Ann Foster.

William Morrison – Born in Rowan County, North Carolina about 1757, migrated to Tennessee with his dad, Patrick, about 1784 and died in Montgomery County in 1836.
Spouse – (1st spouse) name unknown, (2nd spouse) Eleanor Wilson.

Josiah Morrison – Born in North Carolina or eastern Tennessee in 1788, came to the Montgomery County area with his father, William, and grandfather Patrick, prior to 1807.
Spouse - Nancy Wells – Born in Tennessee about 1794, daughter of Robert Wells of the Salem community near Clarksville, TN.

James M. Morrison – James M. Morrison was the son of Josiah Morrison. He was born in Montgomery County in 1818, and married Mary Hale about 1840. James and Mary Hale would have eight children.
Spouse - (1st spouse) Mary Hale – Mary Hale was born in 1818 in Montgomery County and died about 1860; (2nd spouse) Rebecca Atkins – James and Rebecca would have one child.

James Thomas Morrison – James Thomas “Tom” Morrison was the son of James M. Morrison and Mary Hale. Tom was born in 1842 in Montgomery County and married Missouri Ann Trotter in 1866. Tom Morrison died about 1904.
Spouse - Missouri Ann Trotter – Missouri Ann “Annie” Trotter was born in Dickson County in 1848, married Tom Morrison in 1866 at the end of the Civil War, and died in 1913. She was the daughter of James M. Trotter and Lavinia Whittington.

James Alexander Morrison – James Alexander Morrison was the son of James Thomas Morrison and Missouri Ann Trotter. He was born in 1869 and died in 1937.
Spouse - Martha Jane Averitt – Martha Jane Averitt was the daughter of Walter Averitt and Martha Jane Halliburton. She married James Alexander Morrison in 1889 and died in 1957.
