We have seriously been pursuing the history of our ancestors since 1994, but never did we imagine the number of new living "cousins" and friends we would acquire along the way. To them we dedicate our research, and first among them, we thank my Dad's first cousin, Marie-Marthe Aurore Proulx, age one hundred three this past August, 2003, who provided us with vivid and loving first person accounts of the daily lives of her own family, and of my paternal Grandparents, her Aunt Philomene Labrie and Uncle George Proulx.Aurore went to her eternal rest, loving and lucid to the end, on April 24, 2003.
My Grandmother passed away in 1921, twenty years before my birth, when my Dad was but ten years old, and my Grandfather died when I was six years old, so few people, including my Mother even knew my Grandmother. Even my Dad had but a few fuzzy memories, but dear cousin Aurore, who was twenty-one at the time of Philomene's passing, and visited with her family most every Sunday, remembered her quite well.
Our thanks also to our dear Canadian friends, met online, and visited in person~Suzanne & Claude in Laval, Lise & Gil in Metis Beach, and yet to meet in person, Daniel Cote at St-Fabien. We thank you for your guidance and support. Were it not for your efforts I think we would have given up more than once. Merci!
Our last family reunion was in 1995 for both sides of the family, Morrissette & Proulx, although attending Aurore's 100th in August 2000, is the most recent for the Proulx side, and the most amazing of all. Our youngest Proulx is my Grandnephew Alex, nearly seven months, so the living members whom we have known spanned one hundred and three years!
This past year we "met" three more brothers of my Grandfather, George. There already appeared to be some who had passed through the Lowell before settling in Fall River, MA. However, what we have discovered is four of the brothers, including my Grandfather's twin, Felix, who remained in the Lowel area, two, Francois and Ulric, building homes in Gloucester.
