About Our Family Research


John and Elizabeth Holfester(Holzfoerster) immigrated separately from Hessen Germany and married in 1861 in Brooklyn NY. They had 6 children: William, Charles, Amelia, Elizabeth, Nellie, and Carrie. William remains a mystery as no one knows too much about him except that he worked for the New York Central Railroad. Charles had no children surviving. Amelia married James Arthur Bowie( son of John and Jane Bowie) and they had 2 children, Arthur Bowie and Mabel who married a Maloney. Elizabeth married an O'Connor and Nellie married a Jack Parker.

Reihl Family: Searching for information on Frederick Reihl in Brooklyn in the 1890's. Married Louisa Trabold and had one son August Reihl. Frederick's parents were Frederick Reihl and Sophie Hector. There were 2 older male siblings of Frederick. The parents do not show up in the 1900 census yet August is married in Brooklyn in 1913. Anyone who suspects they have a connection kindly email me.
