Research has been done on four separate lineages that have been printed in the genealogy book, "Motherals of North American and Allied Families" compiled by Jennie & Bruce Motheral. This book includes the lines of: ROBERT MOTHERAL, born in Scotland or Pennsylvania. His Will was dated January 8, 1767 and was probated in April Court of 1770, Orange County, North Carolina. His Will lists four sons, John, Samuel, Joseph, and Robert. He also had two daughters, Mary and Margaret. Children were born from 1755 to 1764. The lineages of John and Samuel has been carried forward through 1992 in the book, but genealogy for these two sons is also current (2004) on our Family Tree Maker program. Also, in the book are lineages on JOHN MOTHERAL (married Margaret English who died in 1845 in Pennsylvania); WILLIAM MOTHERAL (Modrall) married to Rebecca McCulloch about 1770 and he died in March 1781 in Guilford County, North Carolina; and WILLIAM MOTHERALL (born circa 1771 in Scotland or England)He married and died in Wilmington,Delaware. Most of his descendents seem to have lived in the Wilmington, New Castle, and Newark, Delaware area. We know that because of the unusual surname that most of these families are probably related. Our goal is to find recorded proof of these connections if at all possible.
