In 1977.I took a genealogy class at the Fullerton California Institute of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, taught by Sister Jeananne Bowman. This class was the beginning of what has turned out to be part of my life's mission. . . to seek out my ancestors ( and those of others) and perserve a history of these wonderful, and sometimes mysterious family members. My first attempt at finding an ancestor was made while taking the Institute class.I had, for years tried to find my grandfather, Jack Shay. All I ever knew about him was that he lived in St Louis Missouri and his birthday was February 2nd. The only information to this date (15 May 2005) that I have gotten ahold of was from a death certificate that I ordered that added no additional information. I have several other lines that I have worked on that I have been very successful at finding information on,namely, Clark, Skaggs,Pruett,Braddy,Clark . . . again, Crouse and others. Most of these families came from Virginia and North Carolina migrating through Kentucky and Tennessee and west to Missouri, settling for the most part in Madison,Caldwell,Ray,Daviess, and Livingston Counties.
