I have been researching Mudgett Families since 1961 and Fugate Families since about 1974. I am a 10th generation Mudgett descendant from Thomas Mudgett and Ann French through their 3rd son, John, born December 17, 1700. and his wife, Susannah Scribner.
I am a 7th generation descendant of Edward Fugate and his wife, Mary Hand through their son, William Fugate and his wife, Hannah Clements.
My paternal Great-Grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Mudgett married Adeline Hotelling. Their son, Wesley Benjamin Mudgett was my Grandfather. He married Ruth D. Allison, daughter of John H. Allison and Martha Ann Davis. Wesley Mudgett and Ruth Allison had three sons, and John Thomas Mudgett, the youngest, born in February, 1905, was my father. He died in November, 1976.
My maternal Great-Grandfather was Joseph E. Fugate, who was born in Grant Co. Kentucky, to Edward Fugate and wife, Mahala Ashcraft. After the family left Kentucky, and moved to Danville, Vermillion Co., Illinois, Joseph Fugate came to Stearns Co., Minnesota with the Boltons. He first married a Mary Bolton and had three sons, but due to Mary's illness, and a family dispute, Joseph, who had lost one leg, came to Cass Co., Minnesota to homestead. Here he raised another family with his second wife, Eliza Chesney, Their son, Lanson Fugate married Blanche Irene Fish, daughter of Willard Fish and Alfreda Belle Loucks.
Lanson Fugate and Blanche Irene Fish are my mother's parents.
