Descendants of Edward Fugate of Danville, Illinois

Updated January 8, 2002

About Our Family Research

Edward Fugate, born in Kentucky, married Mahala Ashcraft on July 3, 1833. They moved, with their children and families to Danville, Illinois during the Civil War. Some of the children had already married in Kentucky. The rest married in Vermilion Co., Illinois. There were many descendants. My GreatGrandfather, Joseph Fugate, had a brother, John Martin Fugate who had many children. John Martin Fugate was in the Civil War and was a prisoner at Andersonville. Joseph Fugate married twice, and by the second marriage to Eliza Jane Chesney, he had several children, which included one son, Lanson Fugate, who was my grandfather. Lanson and his wife, Blanche Fish had eleven children. My mother Edith Fugate was the fourth born child. She married John Thomas Mudgett.
